RES application to build major Scottish borders wind farms granted
Renewable Energy Systems (RES) is to build a 22 turbine wind farm at Black Hill, near Duns in the Scottish Borders. Borders Council unanimously granted planning consent in early July. The turbines will be up to 1.3 MW in size and 12 MW of capacity is contracted via a Scottish Renewables Order contract. The remaining output will be sold under Scotland's renewables obligation -- new legislation to take effect later this year requiring electricity suppliers to buy 5% of their power from renewable sources.
