Editorials/leaders in support of wind energy

Two newspapers recently ran leaders -- or editorials as they are known in America -- in support of wind energy. The Olympian of Washington state welcomed a planned Kenetech “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç plant in Klickitat County in the windy Columbia Gorge. Environmental impact statements and permits are being drafted for 278 turbines in Klickitat, although the first phase of the project is only half that size, according to the newspaper. "We are glad to see this region moving away from nuclear power and hydro power in an attempt to harness the wind," it concluded. The Lincoln Star-Journal of Nebraska ran a leader headed, Farming the wind could bring in a new era. "If wind power holds potential for Nebraska, it would be nice to know that before the next generation of power plant construction begins," it said.
