Work on building the UK's tallest turbine has been completed by green electricity company and wind energy developer Ecotricity. The 1.8 MW Enercon turbine stands 85 metres to hub height. It is the second to be built at Swaffham in Norfolk and was realised to meet local popular demand, says Ecotricity's Dale Vince. Together with the existing 1.5 MW Enercon machine, it supplies 75% of the town's domestic electricity needs and boosts Norfolk's total wind power by 30%.
