NEW JOULE GRANT FOR STANDARDS WORK

The European Wind Turbine Standards project (EWTS) will be continued within the framework of Joule III for two further years, says Luc Rademakers, co-ordinator of EWTS. The contract runs from January 1996 to December 1997. The structure of the project is identical to that of the first EWTS which will continue work in the following areas: load spectra and extreme wind conditions, failure probabilities, integration of blade tests in turbine design, power performance in complex terrain, techniques for site evaluation and implementation of the MEASNET test programme. MEASNET is planned as a network of measuring institutes, to be recognised by EUREC. That should not be too difficult. EUREC is made up of the six wind energy institutes in Europe.
