Regional trade organisation joining forces in New England
With high electricity and renewable energy credit prices driving a growing wind market in the Northeast, a regional trade organisation has been formed to focus on utility scale development the six New England states. Among the non-profit organisation's first steps is filling the role of executive director to focus efforts in three major areas: siting and permitting policies, state-level green energy mandate laws, and transmission and interconnection policies. To a limited degree, the organisation will also support other renewable energy resources. Money for the initiative is partly coming from wind power developers active in the region, such as First Wind (formerly UPC Wind), Horizon Wind, Iberdrola, Noble Environmental Power, and others. The Conservation Law Foundation, based in Boston, Massachusetts, is providing the initial start-up backing.
