SURVEY SAYS NUCLEAR COSTLY AND UNWANTED BY UTILITY EXECUTIVES
Nuclear power is the most expensive energy option, says a new US survey. In addition, 74% of utility executives surveyed say their utility should never order another nuclear plant. And nuclear power consumed a stunning 60% of all federal energy research and development spending from 1948 to 1994. A new report by the Safe Energy Communications Council (SECC), "Mythbusters #9," exposes the economic liabilities of nuclear power, concluding that it flunks the economic litmus test. The report was issued in October by SECC, based in Washington DC.
