NEG Micon to supply Oklahoma Blue Canyon 74.25 MW project
Zilkha Renewable Energy has picked Danish NEG Micon as the turbine supplier for its 74.25 MW Blue Canyon Wind Farm in Oklahoma. It is the first time the Danish company will supply its 1.65 MW turbine in the US. Andris Cukurs of NEG Micon North America says the model is well suited for the "dynamic and aggressive" site. It is the third project awarded by Zilkha to NEG Micon -- the largest of which is the 80 MW Top of Iowa wind power station completed in 2001 with 89 NEG Micon 900 kW turbines. NEG Micon is so far supplying wind turbines to five projects in the US this year in orders for a combined capacity of more than 146 MW. Only Vestas and GE Wind Energy have more turbines going up in the US in 2003. The purchase value of the Blue Canyon order is $62 million and the turbine company says it will construct the turbines, provide a five year service and maintenance program, as will as a five year warranty on the turbines.
