NEW IN INDIA
Seven WindMaster 300 kW turbines are to be installed at Lamba in the state of Gujarat. They will be partially manufactured in India by Elecon, which is licenced to sell WindMaster turbines on the Indian market. Blades for the seven turbines are being made by the Wind Energy Group in Britain which has been contracted by WindMaster in Belgium. The 30 m diameter rotor will be a stretched version of the original 28 m rotor to maximise energy capture on the low wind speed site at Lamba. The first batch of the 14.5 m wood composite blades, each weighing 550 kilos, will be delivered to WindMaster in December. According to Michel Ardoullie of WindMaster, the decison to allow manufacture of the turbines in India is a response to the import duty imposed on towers and generators brought into the country.
