FRIENDLY FACES

SeaWest took the sweepstakes award for their wind farm float with "animal turbines" .

Employees at California wind company SeaWest won no less than three town parades last year with their wind farm float of "animal turbines." Maggie Ganczak, an administrative assistant at SeaWest, reports that the float was put together in about two weeks for the Tehachapi Mountain Festival Parade where it took the sweepstakes award. "We then entered the float in two other local city parades and won first place in both," she adds. "Our latest venture was to the Tehachapi Children's Christmas Plaza as the backdrop for the music and entertainment area. There is a real spirit of community involvement and service here at SeaWest." The float depicts a fenced farmyard as the home for a number of wooden models of wind turbines -- each with a papier m‰ché animal head sprouting blades as ears. Sheep, cows and pigs smile happily down from the tops of their turbine towers.
