Experiments are being carried out on NedWind's 1 MW turbine near Medemblik to reduce aerodynamic rotor noise. A serrated strip of plastic has been attached to the whole length of the trailing edge of the blades. According to Frank Hagg from Stork SPE, who is leading the experiment, the jagged blade edge will reduce noise by 3 dB(A), a 50% reduction in sound emitted. Results of the experiment are awaited.
