Gas companies banned from investing in wind power
Gas companies will not be investing in renewables, despite their announcement to the contrary. The Petroleum Ministry has now ruled that two major companies -- Oil & Natural Gas Corp and Gas Authority of India Limited -- cannot diversify into a non-core businesses. The ministry has objected to their foray into generation and marketing of renewable energy, including wind, on a commercial basis.
