Mini wind turbines installed on polar exploration vessel Tara

Krug, a French specialist in small wind turbines for the domestic market, has supplied four machines to the polar and oceanic exploration sailing boat, Tara, which in July set off on a two-year expedition to the Arctic to study climate change. The two Superwind 350 watt and two Westwind 2.5 kW turbines will meet some of the energy needs of the boat during the six winter months when constant winds blow in the region. Solar panels take over during the anticyclonic summer season.
