PowerGen's wind energy portfolio continues to expand with the recent addition of two further wind farms. The company has just concluded an agreement with developer Borderwind to acquire four WindMaster turbines at Great Eppleton Farm on Wearside. The 3 MW wind cluster is currently under construction and is expected to be operational by the end of the year. In Cumbria, PowerGen has bought the newly completed Siddick and Oldside wind farm at Workington from developer Windcluster. The seven 600 kW turbines at Siddick were operational by August and a further nine at the adjacent Oldside site were commissioned in September. PowerGen will also own an extension to its Haverigg site in Cumbria where Windcluster has planning permission and a NFFO contract for four extra 600 kW turbines. These will be installed alongside the existing five 225 kW Vestas V27 machines. According to Chris Morris no decision has yet been made on the choice of turbines.
