RRB Vestas has launched the Vestas 500 kW turbine onto the Indian market and installed four units at Muppandal. RRB's Rakesh Bakshi says the machines are for the company's own use and will be run for six months to prove their efficiency and performance. He adds: "Machines larger that 500 kW will give us problems with installation. We want to assess these ourselves -- and not at the cost of our clients." The company plans to set up 100 MW of wind generating capacity by March next year and another 30 MW by September.
