First wind station at Parndorf for green energy trader Oekostrom

Five NEC Micon 1.5 MW turbines went online at Parndorf in April, the first wind station for Vienna-based green energy trader Oekostrom. Power will be bought at the fixed rate of EUR 0.078/kWh under Austria's green energy law, Ökostromgesetz, introduced early this year. Average wind speed at the site is 6.3 m/s and the plant should generate sufficient electricity for the annual needs of 4,000 households. Oekostrom says it has a permit to expand the site and has another eight turbines under development.
