BWEA engages media consultant
The British Wind Energy Association has engaged a firm of media consultants to help in its campaign to counter negative press coverage of wind power. The aim, according to the BWEA's Ian Mays, is to make sure the majority view of the issue prevails and to correct some of the misleading information that has been put about by opposition groups. "What we are seeing in the press results from a small but very vociferous minority which is not representative of the general public's view of wind energy." He says that Moffat Associates will help the BWEA to put the true facts before the media and present the results of a number of attitude surveys that show the public mostly favours wind energy. Already the company has distributed a detailed briefing note, The Truth About Wind Power to energy and environment journalists correcting some of the fallacies widely repeated in the press over past weeks.
