Wales's newest wind farm -- at Llyn Alaw on Anglesey -- was officially switched on at the end of June by two pupils from the local school. The 20 MW wind farm, comprising 34 Bonus turbines, was developed by National Wind Power. Llyn Alaw is the third and largest wind project to be built on Anglesey. Wind now supplies enough electricity to meet the needs of 70% of homes on the island. Moreover, 2.5% of Welsh electricity is generated by its wind farms.
