A joint venture has been signed by a subsidiary of New World Power of Connecticut, US, to build, own and operate a 2 MW wind/diesel hybrid to power the village of Fort Albany, in Ontario. The agreement, between New World Village Power and Fort Albany First Nation, will provide power under a contract with Ontario Hydro, it is hoped. The project will be managed by New World Power Canada of Ottawa.
