FOSSIL FUEL LEVY
The Fossil Fuel Levy, which raises money to pay for the extra cost of nuclear and renewable electricity, is to remain at 10% for 1995/6. The levy pays for output under the Non-Fossil Fuel Obligation. The nuclear industry takes the lion's share of levy proceeds. In fiscal year 1994/5 only 5-6% of the levy is being directed towards renewables, but next year this is expected to rise to up to 8%, dependent on the number of NFFO-3 projects coming on stream.
