Following a disastrous year of no winds and no turbine installations in 1994, the fortunes of wind power in Finland improved in 1995. Winds went back to normal and so did wind energy development. Installed capacity was increased from 4 MW to 6 MW with four new 500 kW turbines installed in three different locations. Other projects, however, were stopped by the planning authorities. Building permits were denied for a project on Karlö (applied for by utility Revon Sähkö), for an "offshore on the rocks" project by the utility Esbo el and for turbines in the Åbo archipelago. Projects of 6-7 MW are in the pipeline for 1996.
