Anti-wind farm group ordered to withdraw advert

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has told an anti-wind farm group to withdraw its advertisement objecting to a wind farm. The ruling follows a complaint by developer Renewable Energy Systems (RES) about a regional press advertisement headed: "Make your vote count, stop the Glens of Foudland Wind Farm." The Friends of the Glens of Foudland in Grampian had claimed the proposed development would cause house prices to collapse, destroy the local environment and cause traffic chaos during construction. The ASA ruled the claims were either misleading or exaggerated and upheld RES's complaints.
