"Mud-line-moments" and other additions to the offshore vocabulary
Terms at OWEMES were showing just how deep the wind industry is getting into new waters. Frequently heard words and phrases included bathymetry, mud-line moment [as in, "I'm having a ..."], scour and kurtosis. Waves, by the way, can be linear or non-linear -- though finding somebody who could explain the difference clearly to a non-scientist was difficult and even many of the researchers did not understand the terms.
