Minnesota “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç Inc is ceasing business, and instead Wind World Inc (WWI) is starting up in its place to develop and operate wind farms, says the company. Lars Olsen, the owner and president of WWI, is also the owner of sister company Wind World A/S of Denmark. Plans to manufacture Wind World turbines in the US have now been dropped "because of the financial situation of Minnesota “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç," says a company official. Turbines will now be imported from Denmark for a 25 MW wind farm in northwest Iowa, to be installed starting this spring. The power will be sold to Interstate Power and Iowa Electric.

Morgan Stanley & Co Inc is now engaged as financial advisor, investment banker and sponsor of New World Power Corp in the global capital markets, according to New World, based in Lime Rock, Connecticut. Morgan Stanley, one of the leading underwriters of corporate financing for US and international companies, will be New World's primary investment banker in connection with underwriting corporate or debt securities, mergers and acquisitions and other strategic advice, and with project financing advisory services.

Employment at Kenetech Corp will balloon to 3,200 within three or four years to meet global wind orders, the company says. That's a quadrupling of its work-force. The projection is based on the hoped-for success of the 33M-VS. Most of the job growth will be at CNF Constructors of Meridien, Connecticut, Kenetech's Bud Grebey told the Contra Costa Times. The company's wind division, US “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, which currently employs 470 in Livermore, may also add more jobs, he said.

Full ISO 9001 certification by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO) has been received by Kenetech “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, the company announced on March 7. "The ISO 9001 certification is a major milestone for wind power, one that acknowledges our global commitment to quality," said Joel Canino, Kenetech “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç president. An ISO 9001 accreditation certifies that a company has established and continues to maintain strict standards in its quality management systems. The standard is officially recognised in much of Europe and in other countries worldwide. The ISO is managed from Geneva, Switzerland. Kenetech, which has now manufactured more than 100 of its new variable-speed turbine, the 33M-VS, expects to assemble and deliver more than 500 of the turbines in 1994, according to the company.
