Vattenfall orders three Zephyrs

Three 250 kW Zephyr wind turbines have been ordered by Sweden's state owned utility, Vattenfall. They will be installed in Lilla Böslid in the province of Halland, a few miles southwest of Falkenberg where the turbines are manufactured. The two bladed Zephyr is the only wind turbine to be commercially manufactured in Sweden. The first Zephyr was installed in 1990 and followed by two further machines in 1993. Although when turning they worked well, the machines have been plagued by technical problems. Controversy over who should pay for repairs has resulted in them standing idle for long periods. The three Vattenfall Zephyrs have been modified and updated from the original design.
