Big government tenders on the way onshore and offshore

The French government is about to publish two calls for tender which will massively boost the country's installed capacity of just over 230 MW. The first call, announced in the summer (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, June 2003) and officially launched this month will be for 500 MW of offshore capacity which must be installed before January 2006 (page xx). The second is expected in February and will be for two lots of 500 MW in wind farms larger than 12 MW to be installed before 2007. France's prevailing wind power tariff only applies to wind farms under 12 MW.
