Kværner loses Swedish MW market

Also worried about Sweden's political wind climate is Bengt Göranssson from Norway's large manufacturer of hydro turbines, Kvaerner. Göranssson and his colleagues have drawn up plans for a new version of Kværner's 3 MW wind turbine prototype on Näsudden, with standard components to make it commercially competitive. But utility interest in large turbines in Sweden has vanished, he says. The company now plans to install an offshore project of 3 MW turbines off the windy Atlantic Norwegian coast. Kvaerner is, however, still developing a small turbine in the 10-20 kW range.
