Wind developer Plambeck Neue Energien in Cuxhaven has attracted considerable press attention with the announcement that it is to be listed in the New Markets section of the Frankfurt stock exchange from mid December. Nord LB bank in Hannover is responsible for floating 25% of the stock. Plambeck chairman Wolfgang von Geldern is confident that renewables will double their share of the German energy market from 5% to 10% by 2010, increasing their turnover from about DEM 4 billion to DEM 9.7 billion. Plambeck will start by concentrating on wind, turning later to biomass and photovoltaics. By about 2000, the company also intends to become active in power trading. It will offer a mix of renewables and purchased power and "our own wind energy will account for about one quarter of this." Plambeck has one wind station now operating. Its Nordleda plant near Cuxhaven in Lower Saxony of 43 turbines was inaugurated in July. Plambeck owns 33 of the turbines, 16 of them 600 kW AN Bonus machines and 17 Enercon E40 500 kW units. The remaining ten machines, eight AN Bonus 600 kW and two Enercon E40s, are owned by Energiekontor of Stuhr/Brinkum. Two further wind plants are being installed by Plambeck, to come on line this month. At Altenbruch 16 Nordex 1.3 MW machines are going in the ground and in Westeregeln in east German Saxony Anhalt, two AN Bonus 1 MW units. For 1999 Plambeck is planning DEM 180 million of investment in a further 73.5 MW of wind power. The company is owned by Plambeck Contra Con (56.25%), by Norbert Plambeck (24.99%) and his wife Eva (7.82%) and by Friedrich Dieckell (10.94%). Norbert Plambeck has a majority stake in Plambeck Contra Con.
