NANTUCKET ISLAND

In a recent settlement, a request for proposals (RFP) will be issued for 2.5 MW of wind power at a ceiling price of $0.065/kWh in 1995 dollars on Nantucket Island, Massachusetts. The Department of Public Utilities approved the settlement June 24, says Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) attorney Rusty Russell. The CLF is also to monitor Nantucket Electric's progress in increasing energy efficiency as well as helping develop the RFP by June 1995. The wind power would be some 8% of total energy use on the small island, which has a load of only 8-10 MW, says Russell.
