Lowick Common wind plan resurrected

Next Generation is to resurrect a NFFO-3 project at Lowick Common in Cumbria. John and Yvonne Miller's four year fight to build three turbines on the common near Ulverston ended after a planning inspector rejected their appeal in 1997 (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, November 1997.) The Millers had intended to use proceeds from the wind farm to help maintain the common. Now they are pinning their hopes on Next Generation's new proposal for two 600 kW Enercon turbines on the site. If its application proves successful, the company hopes to contribute towards the longer term upkeep of the common, says Next Generation's Dale Vince.
