New voice for renewables
Canada's green power industry has a new voice: the Quebec Association for the Production of Renewable Energy (AQPER). The organisation represents the renewables side of the Quebec Association of Private Hydroelectricity Producers and communicates the sector's views to the public. AQPER was formed in January as a result of the Quebec government's new energy policy, which gives a high profile to wind and other renewables. AQPER will take part in the Quebec Energy Board's public hearing late this month to examine the wind energy set-aside quota for Quebec (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, April 1998). AQPER is calling for Hydro Quebec to increase its existing 25 MW wind set-aside to 40 MW a year.
