Pacific Hydro 105 MW proposal

Pacific Hydro has gone public with its proposal to build a 105 MW wind farm at Yaloak Estate, near Ballan in western Victoria. Plans for the A$100 million project, which would see up to 70 turbines installed on a privately owned site, were unveiled at a series of community meetings. The company is to lodge a planning application shortly and hopes to gain all necessary approvals, local and federal, by the end of the year. If it proceeds, Yaloak will be twice the size of Pacific Hydro's 52.5 MW Challicum Hills wind farm, which recently came online in Victoria, and will produce energy to power 45,000 homes. The company's Chris Cosgrove says reaction from the local community has been "very positive."
