Native Americans supported by US Department of Energy

The US Department of Energy is supporting development of Native American energy resources to the tune of $5 million. The support is significant as Native Americans are large land holders, sometimes in windy areas. Indeed, America's windiest area is on the Blackfeet Reservation in Montana. The deadline for applications to the programme, to implement provisions of the 1992 Energy Policy Act, is May 9. Individual awards of up to $250,000 will be announced this summer.
