Step closer for 103 MW Wattle Point wind farm
Meridian Energy's planned 103 MW Wattle Point wind farm in South Australia's Yorke Peninsula is a step closer to reality after the Essential Services Commission of South Australia granted it an electricity license. The project will use 50-60 NM82 turbines supplied by Vestas, recently merged with NEG Micon. Australian wind power component manufacturer Keppel Prince of Portland, Victoria, has won the A$10 million contract for the development, while Air-Ride Technologies of Kilburn, South Australia, will build the towers. "We are close to a start date some time this year," says Meridian's Alan Seay. "There are just one or two things still to iron out."
