Plans for 14 MW project at Föglo Bråttö area

Ålands Elandelslag (ÅEA), the biggest electricity supply company in the Finnish Ålands islands, hopes to build a wind plant at Föglö Bråttö, an archipelago region to the west of the Åland district of Jomala. "We have notified the provincial government on Åland of our intention to conduct a feasibility study to assess wind conditions in the Föglö Bråttö area," says ÅEA's Jan Wennström. "We are at the early stages but we are hoping that a plan can take shape for a wind park to produce 10-14 MW." The project will use 2 MW machines. The application will be reviewed by the island's environmental authority, and a decision is due within three months. ÅEA currently sources around 4% of its annual electricity supplies from Ålands Vindkraft, the company behind last year's installation on the islands of a Vestas 660 kW turbine at Sottunga.
