TEMPERATURE RISE BY 2.5 DEGREES CELSIUS
Global warming could mean average temperatures rise by 2.5 degrees Celsius by 2100 unless fewer greenhouse gases -- often from traditional power sources -- are emitted. That is the view of the respected Inter-governmental Panel on Climate Change. Even if cleaner forms of power generation, such as wind, are employed and emissions are stabilised, sea levels will continue to rise for centuries, says the summary report.
