SeaWest subsidiary to take over operations of three California projects
A subsidiary of Seawest Holdings, a veteran California wind project developer, will take over operations and maintenance (O&M) of three California wind projects owned by the once mighty Enron Wind. For the next five years, Seawest Asset Management says it will operate and maintain turbines owned by Enron at the Santa Clara wind farm in Altamont Pass and at the Painted Hills and Mesa wind farms in Palm Springs. The combined capacity of the 888 Vestas turbines is 61.5 MW. The agreement brings Seawest's total O&M contracts to 457 MW. Seawest says it is not discussing further O&M contracts with Enron Wind. O&M is one of the cornerstones of Seawest's operations, says CEO Christian Engsted. Its business plan also includes partnering with larger developers, helping small utilities develop 5-25 MW projects and providing turnkey development (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, September 2002). Seawest has over 3239 turbines installed that total nearly 830 MW in the US and Europe.
