New French energy law with wind provisions finally reaches statute book
France's new energy law finally reached the statute book in early July despite a last minute attempt by more than 140 Socialist members of parliament to have it ruled unconstitutional. Two of the five points put to the Constitutional Council concerned wind power, namely points of law regarding the wind power development zones (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, July 2005) and offshore installations. The council dismissed the appeal.
