GE Financial Services buys fourth German wind station
GE Energy Financial Services has made its fourth wind investment in Germany this year, to bring its combined wind farm holding in the country to 166 MW, or just under 1% of national wind capacity. The latest acquisition is the 12 MW Krusemark facility of eight GE 1.5 MW turbines, brought online in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt in spring 2004. GE is historically linked with Germania Windpark through the wind project's managing director, Marcus Tacke. The Tacke family owned turbine manufacturer Tacke Windtechnik, which was bought by Enron Wind. GE acquired Enron Wind in 2002. The Krusemark deal follows acquisition in September of a 55 MW project using 37 GE 1.5 MW turbines, due online in April at Alsleben in eastern Germany. The project was bought from EAB Technology Group. Prior to that deal, GE bought four wind stations in July from developer Denker & Wulf and one from turbine builder Repower (formerly associated with Denker & Wulf ) totalling 99 MW. All four plant use Repower 1.5 MW units commissioned last year.
