IMPROVED DOMESTIC SALES

At home Denmark has sold 68 turbines (39 MW) between January and June, a marked improvement on domestic sales during the same period in 1994. In the year's second quarter utilities saved the day by installing 44 machines (26 MW), while private people put up 19 turbines (7.3 MW) -- the largest amount of wind power installed in Denmark in any one quarter since 1991. The figures also reveal that as a people's movement, wind energy development in Denmark is steadily declining, with utilities taking over responsibility for achieving the government's goal of covering 10% of the country's electricity consumption with wind by 2005.
