Gestenga, the organisation set up by Galicia's Xunta government to oversee development of wind power in the region, has a new general manager. Pablo Sanchez has taken over from Manuel Lara, who has been at the helm of the organisation since it was set up several years ago with the aim of streamlining development of wind power in the face of huge interest from potential developers. The rugged and vast north western region, which has a tentative wind ceiling estimated at over 5000 MW, recently handed out building licences for development of some 2000 MW.
