Utilities are responsive to wind collaborative
The wind collaborative called for under President Clinton's Climate Action Plan is under way. Wind lobbyists have met with officials from Edison Electric Institute, the American Public Power Association, and the Electric Power Research Institute. Members of the American Wind Energy Association were also to meet with the environmental community on December 16, leading to a full meeting of the collaborative in February, says AWEA's Randy Swisher. He notes utilities are so far being responsive to the plan -- officials from more than 70 utilities representing about 75% of the country's customers recently flew to Washington to discuss the matter.
