No legal proceedings after fatal accident
The official report on the complete destruction of a Husumer-Schiffswerft prototype turbine involving the death of a technician has been released by the Itzehoe criminal investigation department (CID) with the recommendation that no legal proceedings be instigated, according to HSW's Christian Schult. However, the Itzehoe Public Prosecutors' Office (PPO) has retained the report, with no date given for its release, Schult adds. He hopes the CID recommendation will be taken on board by the PPO. The report on the accident was drawn up by Germanischer Lloyd and insurance company Allianz Versicherung and includes records of interviews with company representatives from HSW and Aerodyn Energiesysteme of Rendsburg, which designed the machine. The accident occurred at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Koog wind turbine testing facility on April 3. Schult says the company hopes to have a new 600 kW prototype installed before the Husumer Wind Energy Conference in September.
