Military more relaxed

Preliminary studies have been made in Sweden on how wind turbines affect radio signals and radar. During the next six months, this work will be followed by a comprehensive field study. Work group Sa Vind -- created by the Swedish wind power association -- will report the final results by mid 1998. The military's Christer Hekansson has disclosed that the results of the study so far indicate that the military's fear of the effects on the national security network of wind turbine installations could have been exaggerated. It seems the military authorities are likely to take a less militant stance on wind plant planning applications in the future.
