India lab to conduct Antarctic wind program
After testing the effectiveness of specially developed controllers for wind powered battery chargers at the Indian Antarctic Maitri station, the National Aeronautical Laboratory (NAL) has been asked to design a wind energy program for the location by the Department of Ocean Development, the lab reports. NAL also reports that in 1999, other project highlights were performance evaluation of small stand alone systems, detailed power curve measurements on large grid-connected wind turbines and the evaluation of newer wind farm sites at Jaintia Hills in Assam.
