Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) is finally agreeing to buy some 30% of power generated by a proposed 68.1 MW wind project in Carbon County, Wyoming. BPA, facing massive budget cuts, had been reviewing its commitment to the Kenetech project and might have pulled out completely. Meantime, the federal agency has not yet made a decision on its involvement in the CARES 25 MW project in Washington state, to consist of AWT-26 turbines. That decision is expected this month, says BPA's Perry Gruber. PacifiCorp would be the primary owner of the $80 million Wyoming project, to be built by Kenetech “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç and located between Rawlins and Laramie. PacifiCorp also announced on September 25 that it has reached an agreement with Kenetech and Portland General Electric on building a 31.2 MW project in Columbia Hills in Washington. Previous signed agreements had been cancelled after Puget Power backed out over a year ago, said PacifiCorp's Dave Kvamme.
