Second wind-solar hybrid unit planned for Maharashtra
Storage power systems company Exide Industries hopes to commission its second wind-solar hybrid unit at Aurangabad in Maharashtra shortly. The 10 kW unit comprises a 6.4 kW wind turbine, with solar panels making up the remaining 3.6 kW of capacity. The turbine rotor was supplied by American company Southwest “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, while Exide manufactured the storage systems, inverter and batteries. Exide's first hybrid unit-20 kW in capacity-was commissioned in Sagar Islands in the east Indian state of West Bengal. "While the solar energy is utilised for charging the battery, the wind turbines provide energy during monsoons," says the company.
