Spanish utility Endesa plans to enter French market through local partner
Spanish utility Endesa plans to enter the French wind power market through its local partner SNET, France's second largest independent electricity producer. Endesa took a 30% stake in SNET in 2000, increasing it to 65% in November 2004. SNET currently generates 2600 MW in France from fossil fuels. Endesa intends to increase the output to 4800 MW by 2010, of which 200 MW will come from wind power. SNET says it already has wind projects totalling 55 MW under development, mostly on the north-western coast in Picardy and Brittany. Construction is scheduled to start on the first 10 MW plant by the end of the year for completion late 2006.
