Northern States Power (NSP) in Minnesota states that it has not made a final selection from the five remaining bidders for supply of 100 MW of wind power plant. However, the utility's Glynis Hinschberger confirms that one of the "combinations" of smaller bids under evaluation by NSP includes three wind companies, Zond Systems Inc, FloWind Corp and SeaWest, (“uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, May 1995)

A final decision on the winner -- or winners -- will not be made until this month, stresses Hinschberger. "It really hasn't been narrowed down in any shape or form," she adds. Also under consideration are bids by New World Power Corp and Kenetech “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç. The 100 MW is Phase II of NSP's 425 MW of wind to be in place by 2002. A 25 MW Kenetech project is already in place on Buffalo Ridge

Various combinations of bidders are being evaluated for Phase II. Where several smaller bids comprise the 100 MW required, the parties are being asked to "co-ordinate" matters -- such as turbine placement -- between themselves and not with NSP, says Hinschberger. She adds, however, that the companies are apparently not sharing bid proposals with each other. She was not able to comment on the specifics of contracts discussed.
