Swiss commission supports minimum purchase rate
A minimum price for renewables generated electricity, ensuring all costs are recovered, should be introduced in Switzerland, says the Swiss National Council's energy and environment commission. A bill for debate on the subject will be submitted to the 200-strong National Council this summer, one of Switzerland's two chambers of parliament. The other chamber, the Council of States, has 46 members and represents the Swiss Cantons, several of which are progressing with their own legislation towards fixed purchase prices for wind power. None of the details of these efforts are yet available. The two houses of parliament have equal standing in the legislative process.
