Country's first wind plant

Luxembourg saw its first wind station inaugurated on June 13 in the presence of top ranking politicians including environment minister Johny Lahure and economic affairs minister Robert Goebbels. The four Danish Micon M1500-500/125 kW machines were installed by the a wind company calling itself “uåX˜äŠÊ˜·³Ç, based in the Luxembourg town of Gare. The wind plant is expected to generate about 3.2 million kWh annually or enough power to cover the yearly consumption of 1000 households. The electricity will be bought by Luxembourg utility, Cagadal.
